Choosing a Wedding Venue

Lisa Edzards • Jul 17, 2019

Your day, your way!

You're engaged! The proposal was everything you ever dreamed it would be and more. Now comes the planning and top on that list is finding the perfect wedding venue for your big day! Undoubtfully this will be one of the biggest decisions in the wedding planning process, so it's good to start planning out all of your options right away. Once you've tackled the basics such as budget, availability, and capacity, you'll want to think about all the other fine details that will leave you confident about your big day!

1.You'll want to think about the accessibility of your venue. Is it easy to find? Does the venue have ample parking for your guests? Is it handicap accessible? Can my venue accommodate both my ceremony and reception? At Longview Mansion the answer is YES!! Not only can we accommodate both the ceremony and reception, but you can rest easy that we offer both indoor and outdoor ceremony locations so there is always a back up plan no matter what weather brings us on wedding day.

2. What is included in my rental? Does my venue supply chairs, tables, linens, china, flatware, and glassware? If your venue offers these extras, you won't have to stress with added rentals and an increase in budget expenses. Consider the ambiance of your venue. What existing decor does the venue have? An already beautiful room, such as Longview Mansion requires very little added decoration.

3. Photography! I know we are talking about choosing a venue, but when thinking about all of the details one that can be forgotten is what will my venue choice look like in photos? You will have the memory of your beautiful wedding day forever and you can be assured to remember every little detail through your photos. At Longview Mansion we offer 10 acres of gorgeous, gardened and natural beauty backdrops. The architecture pops and tells it's own personal story where history meets modern romance. Have you seen the magnificent natural light of Longview Mansion's 1920's, intricate porches? It's a photographers dream!

4. Go over the pros and cons! Go over your Pinterest boards and everything that is a non negotiable for your wedding dream. When it comes time to tour you will already know that the butterfly in your stomach, the twinkle in your eye, that feeling in your gut is real. Have your list of questions about catering, vendors, deposits ready to go, but at the end of the day, when you know you know. We hope The Historic Longview Mansion and your wedding dreams meet eye to eye and say LET'S DO THIS! Happy planning and congratulations!

Rachel and Bill had the challenge of planning their wedding all the way from California. Their love story began in Kansas City, and they knew Kansas City was the destination for their wedding day. One look at Longview Mansion, with the help of her mother coordinating photos and virtual tours and they knew this was their wedding venue.

Nick and Sierra could not have picked a more gorgeous, fall day in October to get married at the Historic Longview Mansion. The temperature was PERFECT, the trees popped the most glorious and vibrant shades of autumn, and most importantly they were surrounded with those they cherish as they exchanged their vows.
